4th of July in Richfield

We spent the 4th of July in Richfield for the Bailey Family Reunion.  Oh how we love small town celebrations.  We've decided that even with Mom and Dad not being down there any more we will still have to go down every now and again for the 4th of July.  We headed straight to the parade that morning and the kids were so excited.  It's nothing like the parades up north.  There are a few floats but for the most part it's trucks, tractors and lots of 4 wheelers pulling trailers or different such things.  I think there may even be a few horses. But we don't go to the parade for that.  We go to the parade for the candy!  These people know how to throw the candy.  I don't know if it's because we sit at the beginning of the parade route and everyone is so excited to start throwing the candy or if they think our kids are so cute and want to throw it just to them but either way we come home with 4 grocery bags all but full.

After the parade was over we headed over to the park for all of the festivities there.  There wasn't as much stuff for the kids to do this year but they still had fun.  Railey found a bounce house to bounce around in.

The boys found this spinning will to get dizzy and sick in.

Steve and the girls found a little tractor ride to have fun on

All in all it was a good time.  Towards the end we headed over to the fish grab.  Railey got scared last minute and decided not to join in on the fun.  But the boys did it.  Oh it is total chaos but the kids love it and look forward to it.

Damen was mad because he get a fish, someone grabbed it out of his hands.  But here he is holding Seth's.  Pure disappointment here.

Seth however did grab one and was so proud.  The went home and cleaned them and all but to be honest I don't know what happened to them.  Maybe they are still in Grandma and Grandpas freezer.

After a yummy picnic dinner we waited until it got dark to do a few sparklers before the "big show" began.  This is the first time Railey has ever done sparklers or been awake for fireworks.  She was so excited and had pure joy written across her face the whole evening!

This was her face when the fireworks started going off.  She sat and giggled the whole time.  Her little body just couldn't hold in the excitement.  But it was cute and literally mad all of us laugh and smile the whole time.

Kenna on the other hand could have cared less.  She was not interested in holding fire and after about 10 minutes of the "big show" she drifted off to sleep.

Richfield sure does know how to put on a fireworks show.  They set them off of the red rocks so the whole town could see.  We sat on Mom and Dad's front lawn, ate ice cream cones and just enjoyed everyones company and the great display of fireworks.  After the city show was over, the neighbors and all the town started their shows.  It was quite amazing and had us up till way to late past all of our bedtimes.  But it was such a fun day!  I hope we will go back sometime soon!
