Another Set of Dresses

I got the girls Easter dresses all made and then I found some really cheap fabric at Wal-Mart that I just loved.  I had to buy it.  The girls are growing out of all their dresses anyway so I justified it in my head.  But if truth be told I like these dresses better than the other ones.  They are so cute on the girls.  Plus I have beautiful girl to put in them.

Oh Kenna why won't you ever smile for me, at least not when the camera is pointed at your face

Oh thank you Railey for always showing me your beautiful smile you make up for Kenna's stubbornness.

Christmas Dresses

I will just say this! I have more talent in sewing than in taking pictures! Sad thing is I probably took more time trying to take the stupid pictures then I did sewing the cute outfits. But these are the skirts and sweaters I made for the girls for Christmas. I had an old skirt that I used to make both of their skirts. I wish I could show you the little details, maybe I will just take a picture of the skirt without a child in it. I used the fringe on the bottom of my skirt and just mad that the bottom of their skirts. They have little pleats up top but an elastic waste band in the back. I also made Railey's sweater out of an old sweater of mine. I was going to make one for Kenna and went to DI to get an adult sweater but ended up finding a sweater that was a 3T I figured I could use either the one I made of the one I bought for her but both were too big so I pulled out an old red sweater that she already had 0-3mo. The sleeves were originally rolled up so I just unrolled them and pretend I don't notice how short it is on her. Anywho I love how they turned out and Railey LOVES it. She wants to wear it All. The. Time.!!!

Now if I could learn to focus our camera. I tried really hard to get one of both girls but one of the was always out of focus. I just don't know how photographers capture those perfect pictures. I sure can't. Oh well we will stick to sewing instead!

Grandmas Present

Well it's done. I've officially finished Grandma James' present. This truly is one of the favorite presents we've given. We gave one to my parents last year and then made one for Momma this year. I traced all of our hands and made a Christmas tree out of them. Last year when we were trying to come up with a saying to stitch on the wall hanging Steve ended up writing this poem instead. Read it--it's good. What are your hands about? Are they doing good? I hope mine are.

Baby Blanket

I went and helped Nat finish some curtains the other day (she was confussed because I hadn't given her the instructions, only the pattern--silly me). While I was there I convinced her to let me do the baby quilt. I've been wanting to try this cut up 9 patch quilt. It was so fun and so fast to make. I had it cut out and sewn together in about 3-4 hrs. It took a little more time to do all the stippling but it was all so much fun! Thanks Nat!!!! I love the colors she chose they go so well together--maybe you can't see that the blue has some dots that are the same color as the green. Cute cute for their little boy about to be born.

Sewing Again

A couple weeks ago I was talking with my Sister-in-law about her daughters baptism. I asked if she had a dress and she said kind of, but at the time she wasn't sure. So knowing how expensive they are I volunteered to make one. It was so much fun planning it all. We found a site and she picked out a dress she really liked and I had a basic pattern that would make the dress she wanted with just adding a few extras. The next day I went shopping for material and found this beautiful overlay for the dress, and it was on sale which was even better.

I spent the rest of the afternoon cutting the dress out and by bedtime had the dress made. Only the finishing hand work had to be done.

I couldn't find any flowers I like so I made this one for the sash area. I think it turned out kind of cute

And here is the finished product. I love to sew, but a lot of times my sewing is fast simple dresses for Railey and Kenna, so it was fun to take some time and make something so nice and give it a good finished look. I especially like how it turned out and looked on Aubree. Steve took the picture without a flash so it's kinda blurry, but she still is so cute!

New Best Friend

The past 7 months or so I have been part of a little sewing group. We get together and show different things we have made, learn different things and get great ideas. It has been a lot of fun and I am so glad my friends envited me to join. Because of it I have a new best friend it is called elastic thread. I have had so much fun learning to sew with it and it just makes the cutest little girls clothes. Here are a few of the things I have made with it:

This is a little shirt I made for Kate's birthday. I had made a couple for Railey like this. I think it needs another row in the middle it looks a little funny. Railey's looks more natural but is short (that darn tummy).
This is a little dress I made for Railey out of one of my old Maternity Shirts (plenty of material with it being a tent shirt) I found the idea here. She is loving dresses right now so with it costing me nothing, it was great to have a new dress to wear outside to play in.

Here's the front don't you just love those buttons. I do cause I didn't have to sew them on. :)
